Amana NTW4516FW Washer does not advance to rinse cycle

The washer fills, agitates, and spins. Then it thinks it is done and shuts off. The washer needs to be set to a manual rinse cycle after washing. It also seems to have issues with auto sense. Water level seems deeper than necessary, so that washing small loads is not water efficient.

tarafından

I just had the same problem too check the cold water intake screen take your hoses off the back of the washer and check them screens if them are clogged the machine will not function properly

tarafından

I just read about the washer fills and stalls at the wash cycle and they have to stand by it and do it manually

tarafından

I am really tired of spending hours trying to get my New Amanda was her to go through the entire cycle. It stops after the wash cycle, and then I have to try to get it to rinse and spin, but it just goes back to the wash light ! What can be done to fix this problem?

Hi @Bette Moore

If it is new i.e. <12 months old, follow the manufacturer's warranty directions to get it repaired under warranty.

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

How do you reset a timer

tarafından

Connie, you can reset the whole machine by unplugging it for 5 minutes

. That failing, it's time to replace

This machine has no timer. It is controlled by a main control board. Check water intake of cold water

entering machine. Make sure it is a steady flow. If that checks good. More than likely it is the shift actuator.

Part # W10913953 . This part senses load size. RPM’s & shifts the cam assy from agitation mode to spin mode.

To reset your washer. Make sure all LED lights are off. You will need to turn timer control knob one click @ a

time as instructed below. slow & steady clicks.

L > R > R > R > L > R

all lights will LED’s will flash. Turn timer control knob until just the rinse light is lit. Press start. The machine will

go through a 3 to 5 minute calibration mode resetting the machine.

Thanks very much Mike. Do you know if the water saver feature can be turned off or decreased? We live in the country and have lots of water. This machine is trying to wash the clothes dry!!!Almost.

Do you know where I can get a list of the control codes for the Amana Top Load (NTW4516FW3)? I pulled the codes based on your response and a YouTube video. I think the codes are F4-E0, but cannot find anywhere that tells me what that means.

tarafından

Perfect information. Helped me fix my problem in 8 minutes after I had decided it must be the "control board." Thank you!

tarafından

Fyi, I did not have an @a so I tried one full revolution to the left and stopped on normal then continued the instructions. Worked perfect.

tarafından

My washer sat in "wash" mode, and wouldn't advance to rinse. I held the "pause/unlock button, and it sounded like it was emptying the wash water. Finally, no LED lamping. Performed the instructions (left, right, etc). Thank you. Working again

@jphonedude,

Here’s the tech sheet for your washer.

The fault code you mentioned is not shown so maybe it is a control board issue.

Check what codes it shows when running the diagnostics as per the tech sheet.

WOW! That was exactly what I've been looking for! Other sources had me interpreting the codes incorrectly. According to your sheet, my error is F8E1. this makes perfect sense for my situation and has pointed me in the right direction for troubleshooting.

Thank you very much!

If your newer washer is stuck on wash and won’t advance to the next cycles. Take the cold water hose off the machine side and clean it. The screen won’t come out, so you need to take a tooth pick or something like one and clean it by sticking it around the slots on the out side edge of screen. Little small black peace’s of black dirt will stop your washer from working. My washer is only a year old. It’s works!!!

Yes, our neighborhood is on well water and there was clay buildup on the cold water intake. However, the little screen does come out.

Look for a tiny "nipple" in the middle and gently pull it straight out. with it in-hand it is easier to clean under a faucet and then slip it back in place before re-attaching your cold water hose. Thanks for the response!

Hi @ lucky freeman

Here’s the tech sheet for your model washer.

Run the diagnostics as described in the sheet and check for any error codes.

If there are any, use the sheet to check what the code means and the most likely cause.

It may be better this way than to assume that the fault with your machine is related to the same faulty part as others in this thread. Just because the symptoms are the same doesn’t necessarily mean that the cause of the problem is the same.

I can't thank you enough for sharing these troubleshooting tips!

Dealing with a washer that's stuck in the wash can be incredibly frustrating, and I've been there myself.

Your step-by-step guide is a lifesaver, especially for someone like me who isn't exactly a DIY expert.

I followed your advice and started by checking the power source and ensuring the door was properly closed.

It turned out that a loose power connection was the culprit, and a simple fix got my Amana washer back on track.

I was amazed at how something so minor could cause such a major problem.

Your suggestion about resetting the washer by unplugging it for a few minutes also did the trick when the problem persisted.

It's the little things like this that can save us from costly repairs or replacements.

I appreciate your clear explanations and the emphasis on safety throughout the process.

It's evident that you care about your readers' well-being and want us to tackle these issues safely and effectively.

Your blog has become my go-to resource for appliance-related issues,

and I'll be sure to share it with friends and family who might face similar problems with their appliances. Keep up the fantastic work!
