New Ifixit battery not charging

I replaced the battery today and it shows 0% charge and “Not Charging”. I’ve reset the SMC and replaced the magsafe charger. I’ve included some data from Coconut below.

Also, the computer is running EXTREMELY slow with the battery installed. I have no idea how the battery can cause a change in the function of the computer but it appears to be doing that.

Any suggestions would be very, very welcome. Thanks1

Looks like a defective battery as the battery temperature is reading wrong. Does the old battery still work for testing?

The old battery swelled up and cracked the casing. I would worry about reconnecting it. Thanks for the info. Really appreciate it.
