Hello,

Unfortunately after changing out of the CPU, RAM and SSD my iMac does not restart any sign of life just a green LED on the motherboard,

I don’t really know what to do, I have everything back, I'm disappointed Do you have any idea what the problem is?

For the moment I strongly advise not to make the change of the CPU and the RAM : /

Did you try putting the original CPU in so see if the system is working?

Also what CPU and RAM (specs) did you put in and lastly did you put in a 2.5" SSD or something else?

tarafından

no I have not tried with the original processor, I will do it in the afternoon, I put a processor 7700 i7 and 2x16go and 1to ssd crucial thank you for your answer

The system is expecting a Core i7 (I7-8700) Coffee Lake CPU as being the highest it can handle.

The systems BIOS (EFI) is limited to what Apple uses in the given series in this case iMac19,2 these.

thank you the problem comes from the processor, I put the old processor and everything works. thank you for helping me understand my mistake, so if I understand you advise me to put the i7 8700k? (sorry for my pitiful English I'm french ..)

Happy to hear the CPU you tried to use was the issue.

Yes you need to use one of the CPU's this series used. Click on the Blue URL link I posted to see the different modes in this series.

The best CPU you can use is the 8700 not the 8700k which is still a different chip!

Apple loves to lock out hardware options. What they list on the site as the “highest available” will literally be “the highest available”. For example, if it detects a CPU (8700K) that isn’t within the BIOS (8700 and Below) then it won’t boot.
