Roomba is not charging

Roomba is on the docking station, and the lights on the Roomba are not lighting showing it’s charging. We replaced the battery and still nothing.

jenpier first make sure that the contact points on the Roomba are clean. The charging contacts are under the front bumper of the robot. Clean those with a moist cloth and you can even use some rubbing alcohol on those. Once those are cleaned try a hard reset by holding the CLEAN button down for 10 seconds. Release it when all the indicator lights come on.

“A new lithium-ion battery won't work until you wake it up. To do this using the base station, set the station on a level surface; plug in the station, and verify that the indicator light comes on. Place Roomba on the base station and wait for several seconds until the battery wakes up. When it does, the light on the base station will go out, and the battery indicator on Roomba will begin flashing. It too will go out after a minute.” from here

Let us know what you get with all of this. If you still have a “dead” Roomba, it’ll be time to tear it apart and to check things with a meter.

iFixit Staff Suggestion: For more possible solutions to this problem try this page Roomba Won't Charge, one of our troubleshooting pages. As the commenter below mentions, there has to more to it than just cleaning the contacts, but that's actually a very valid, and often successful, first step!

I’m so sick of seeing irobot ask “are the contacts clean”. Y’all need to listen to the customers. The contacts are eroded. We’re not morons. This is terrible engineering. The contacts erode after normal use. Use better materials. Pathetic work and pathetic listening.
