Fuel leaking from an open hose coming from bottom of carburetor I

Trying to figure out why fuel leaks steadily out of a very small hose coming from be very bottom of the carburetor. Hose does not appear to attach anywhere seems like an open hose. Leaks only when running. Also a thicker hose coming from mid carb leaks some as well while running. That hose Appears to be a vent hose of some sort and is sliced add a 45 at the end. Final note I have got the scooter to run smoothly but just facing these leaks any information would be greatly appreciated , the gas tank is nowhere near full checked already.

Carburettor’s usually have a float inside the float chamber which rises and fuels as fuel is used by engine. The float operates a valve which gets closed off when float chamber is full and opens when float falls As fuel level reduces. This is a factor of engine speed, the faster the engines goes more fuel is used float falls as fuel level goes down, float valve opens and fills up float chamber. Common fault is float valve sticking open, float chamber fills and overflows sometimes thru a small pipe.

Hi,

Don’t know the answer but here’s the service manual for a YJ125S scooter. Hopefully it is for your year model as it says 1st. Edition Nov’ 2003 on p.2 of the manual

Section 6 in the manual details how to check and test the carburettor.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Suppose to be open ended. It lets overflow of gas in carb to drip on ground.

I had the same question. Thought something was wrong but it’s suppose to be that way.

Valve inside carb float chamber should close. No fuel should escape.

The float lifts a needle valve as the float bowl fills. If the needle is stuck or damaged, it won't seal, and fuel will run out the vent tube. Sometimes, a good tap will remind it where it belongs, but in my case (Vino 125 sat for 12 years), the carb needs to come apart for some serious TLC.
