Hi @danec ,
Your refrigerator has two evaporator units to cool down the compartments. One for the freezer section and one for the refrigerator section.
Since both compartments are too warm, then it must be a problem common to both.
Is the compressor motor running continually trying to cool down the refrigerator?
Are there any oily residues on the condenser coils (the ones you cleaned) or on or below the compressor?
Do the condenser coils feel warm to the touch?
Is there any ice buildup on the pipes leading to the compressor?
All these questions are just trying to find out if there is a problem with the sealed system i.e. compressor, evaporator units, condenser coils, piping etc.
If the compressor is running continually then there may be a problem with the compressor or perhaps a lack of refrigerant (that’s why the check for the oily residue), and the condenser feeling warm (it should be). The ice build up on the pipes (if any there - shouldn’t be) may be due to a blockage in the sealed system.
You would need to get the sealed system checked by a licenced refrigerator repair service so as to comply with the environmental laws regarding the handling of refrigerant gases.
How old is the refrigerator? Some manufacturers give a 5 year warranty on the sealed system while the rest of the refrigerator is only 12 months. This does not include the labour cost but it may be worthwhile checking your warranty to see if it applies to you, if the problem is the compressor or inn the sealed system.
If the compressor is not running continually it may be an electrical problem e.g. faulty control board.
Was there a power outage or storm just before this problem occurred?
Can you hear if the evaporator fans in each compartment is running? The fans will stop if a door is opened and start again when the door is closed. You may have to place your ear next to the fridge to hear them. The evaporator fans will run as long as the compressor is running and the doors are shut. Do not confuse these fans with the condenser fan which is outside the compartments and can run regardless of the doors being open or not.
There are defrost thermostats and temperature sensors for each compartment but it would be unusual for them all to go faulty at the same time. One compartment not getting cool would be understandable if one of these were faulty, not both.
Hopefully a start.
