Faulty screen or Faulty ribbon cable?

I bought a Macbook pro 2015 that was water damaged saying it needed a new screen and when i looked inside most of the water damage was on the top right side where the Ribbon cable connects to the motherboard, it only connects to my monitor when upside down and displays the graphics fine, but when i turn it on not conncted to the monitor it comes up with a white screen with no lines or dead pixels, would i be good replacing the ribbon cable on the screen or is the screen too far gone
