Bizarre problem after changing logic board

Hi

Ok do I had a mint condition iPhone 4 which had an activation lock . I changed the board for one in an old iPhone 4 I had which I knew the iCloud details

All went well the phone powered up , I disabled FMI and signed out if iCloud

I then erased all content and settings and to my horror was greeted with the activation lock screen bound still to the iCloud of the logic board I removed ?

How is this possible ? Is there another component aside from the logic board that stores the phones serial number etc ? I'm baffled and have never seen this before in countless others I have done

Any help greatly appreciated

No this doesn’t sound possible, unless it was somehow cloned many years ago. The serial and IMEI number are programmed into the CPU of the motherboard. A housing and screen swap can have no influence on the serial number or IMEI number.

I know , I agree with you completely but this is happening. It's 100% got the new board installed in it as I used it for a while with my old iCloud before signing out and resetting the phone . And now it asks for the same email address to activate that was already on it before the logic board was removed - which is sat on my kitchen side !

I still tried my original iCloud to activate even though I had turned it off but to no avail

I'm stumped I have no idea how this could be possible
