No image on the internal display, backlight works

Good day,

I would like to ask about the MacBook Pro Late 2016 A1707 failure.

The display stopped working during use, so I turned off my MacBook with the power button and turned it on again. The MacBook worked again for about a minute, then screen turns black again. From then on, the backlight of the internal display lights up, but no image appears.

No keyboard shortcuts helped - the image on the internal display no longer appeared. The MacBook works flawlessly on the external display.

I found on the Internet that there could be a short circuit in the display connector with consequent damage to the MUX chip and connector that often appeared on these models, so I disassembled the MacBook today, but the display connector is absolutely undamaged.

What can cause this problem and what else can I try?

Thank you very much for every answer

Sadly your issue is within the T-CON logic in your internal display. Here’s a more detailed view of the T-CON

Thank you. How do you know, that the problem isnt on the logic board?

Your statement "The MacBook works flawlessly on the external display" The MUX logic would have messed the external display up not the internal. In addition there's a history of issues with the T-COM logic in the newer 2016 onward systems as unlike the older models it was placed inside the main case near a high heat area which cooks it. Slather on some BBQ sauce and baste it ;-{

So is it almost certain that the problem is in the T-Con? Will heat damage a particular chip or create a cold joint? I have a logic board pulled out, so I could try to heat the t-con board to a high temperature, if it's a cold connection, it should work temporarily. Given the price of the display, I would like to be sure that it is it before ordering. Thanks for the info

I have no magic here, sorry.

I have yet to find any solution than just replacing the display assembly. I've got a few bad displays and have tried about everything I can think of. The issue is heat damages it so heating it more won't help.

OK, thanks, I ordered a new display, I'll let you know if it works. One more question - during the removal of the board, I damaged this component -

I damaged small componect next to Speaker Connector - what is that?

I created a thread and I already found the answer, but the answer from the original thread was that the keyboard backlight will not work. But now I've tried assembly logic board back to the place and turning on my MacBook again, and the keyboard backlight works. Should I somehow deal with the damaged resistor - can it somehow show that it is not there? Or i shouldnt care? Thanks

Sorry its not an available part. You might be able to salvage the board from another bad display but even still its not an easy resolder the very delicate and thin ribbon contacts. More likely you'll damage it somethings are best left for the machines to do then the unsteady human hands.
