If the paper and ink lights are blinking, that’s usually a waste ink (WIC) problem, especially if it’s persistent - what that means for you is the pad is saturated. Some are clearer about it in Epson Status Monitor then others, so it trips people up unless you know how terminal that error is. The 2010-present models tend to go belly up over waste ink within 3-4 years, without fail; I am not surprised. The days of seeing machines like the C88+/R200 series run for 10 years ended when Epson lost money on workhorse models.
Sadly, it’s generally cheaper to dump the entire printer over WIC problems. The part and required SW tends to cost more then a new machine. Buy a B/W laser, especially if you do not need color.
