New Battery Has Problems
Hello,
Last week I have installed a new battery on my MacBook Pro with retina display late 2013 by following the procedure and I have done the battery calibration as well as suggested in the instructions.
However, I am having the following issues in regards to the new battery:
- Mac tells me that the service for battery is recommended and that the “battery capacity is significantly reduced”
- when pulling up the battery info it shows it has 3,693 days on it so it does not seem new
- the new battery does not last long
Hope that you can get better to me in a timely manner so that I can understand what’s happening with my new battery.
Thank you!
Fabrizio

I got this battery from the iFixit website, bought directly from there. I already have Coconut battery. Please see here attached the screenshot. Battery is older then my Mac!

Thank you @dunc for your comment!
Actually the customer support followed up with me and they have sent me a replacement battery that I will receive in the next days.
Your point is correct and my worry I that they might keep using/sending these 8/9 years old batteries that are obviously already reduced in their life without ever being used before!
Also, customer support highlighted the fact that Coconut Battery does not provide the correct manufacture date for these batteries. Just a feedback I wanted to share…Thanks,
Fabrizio
Bu iyi bir soru mu?
Where did you get the battery?
Let’s get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

The part I wanted to see was the lower part of CoconutBattery while the MagSafe charger is plugged in.

Seems like old inventory that was never used. Battery age is when the battery was physically made (2013 in this case). Cycle count is how many times it's been fuly charged and discharged (in your case 3 which is fairly unused). I'm sure you can get a warranty replacement but I'd check with ifixit customer service.
I am surprised @danj didn't say anything further... must have slipped his radar.

@dunc - Good Morning! You really are keeping me on my toes! Remember I'm a volunteer (I don't work for iFixit in anyway), Also things do fall off my plate, as I also have a life beyond answering Q's here ;-}
I call it a day around 10PM ET, so try to hold off expectations beyond that.

@danj <embarrased smile> sorry @danj. I am in "between jobs" so i am bored and looking to keep going. Thanks for helping everytime I ask. I'll be mindful going forward.
