Try checking the screen closely with bright images (if it is possible to get one displayed) and/or try shining a light on the screen. If you can make anything out on the screen, the backlight has probably failed. If, no matter what you try, you can’t see anything, the display itself has probably failed or disconnected. It is best to consult a disassembly guide or professional to fix these issues unless you know you can do it yourself and have the right tools.

This TV model doesn't have backlights to light the screen as it is a plasma TV.
There are phosphors in the screen that light up when the current passes through them
Good to know. I'm not the most knowledgeful person when it comes to electronic functionality.

This may be a good place to start testing what the problem is. There a full schematics in the manual which should also help.

My TV had a backlight issue that actually managed to fix itself after about a year. I have no idea what caused it originally, but I am guessing some kind of short developed.
