Not pwering on after ram upgrade

So I upgraded ram on my inspiron 15 3593 laptop. Now there is no display and neither is it giving any led display error indicator. Change back to older ram and still the same. Checked for dell trouble shooting and the issue isnt listed there.

When I press the power button. Power led lights up for a few seconds and fades out. I can feel cpu heating up but no display no fan. I press the power button again and then fan kicks in for a few seconds and then powers off. Removed static. Tried bios reset nothing helped.

It caused right after changing to new ram modules and there is no one to hold accountable. Sucks really, any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

Did you disconnect the main battery before removing/replacing the ram?

When you say BIOS reset, did you remove the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard as well as disconnect the main battery?

If not try a full power refresh by disconnecting the main battery and the RTC battery (note the orientation before removing, +ve on top), then press and hold the Power button operated for a full 30 seconds and release.

Here’s the service manual for the laptop. Go to p.27 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the RTC coin cell battery.

Reinsert the RTC battery, reconnect the main battery, connect the charger and try turning it on.

Maybe try with the old ram first as you know they (it?) did work before and the new ram may not for some reason.

Was the new ram either DDR4 PC4-21300 (2666MHz) or DDR4 PC4-25600 (3200MHz)?

Yes was exactly the case, I did not unplug the battery before swapping ram. I did unplug the RTC coin cell but not sure if the battery was unplugged at that time. Took it to repair shop he did a CMOS reset which was unplugging the battery and removing the coin cell which brought back the display and now my laptop is working fine with new ram just finished a fresh window install. Thank you so much for your help I hope others will be able to benefit from it!
