Device repair and information for HP's line of Pavilion 15" laptop computers.

Can I upgrade to m.2 nvme?

Hi, i have an HP Pavilion – 15-bc380ng laptop. I can’t find any info about it. I want to upgrade my 128 gig ssd, to an nvme one. Is this possible? Does anybody know, what kind of m.2 slot does this laptop have, or has somebody upgraded to an nvme ssd?

Hi @arady01 ,

Here are the specifications for your laptop.

It shows that there is a 1TB sata HDD and a m.2 128GB ssd.

An nvme SSD may not actually physically slot into the m.2 port on the motherboard in your laptop.. This link explains it better than I can what to look for.

Here’s the maintenance and service guide for the laptop. It details all the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedures to remove/replace all the major components in the laptop. Check out what type of m.2 slot is on the board so that you will know what is possible.

Perhaps changing the HDD to an SSD may also be something to think about.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Thanks a lot! I googled everywhere but couldn't find any manuals. As i see, there is no nvme compatibility at all according to this manual, otherwise they sure have listed an ssd like the one for bc500-599. Later on, i will buy a bigger nvme ssd for my main rig, and check if the old one fits, but for know i'll try to live with it as it is, or i consider a sata one.
