Repair guides and disassembly information for the MacBook Pro 16'' released in November of 2019. Model A2141, EMC 3347.

Where can I find the battery connector?

Hello!

I recently replaced the screen on a MacBook Pro 16” 2019 and it seemed it went very well. When i was done i turned it on and checked everything including charging. Everything was working.

2 days later my customer comes back and says it doesn’t charge. After some troubleshooting this is confirmed. I think i may have broken the battery connector on disconnect and need to find a new one. I have searched but found nothing. I always find the small flex cable going over that connector but not the connector itself.

Does anyone know where i can get it so it can be replaced? :)

Can you post a picture of the connector so we correctly ID which one.

Also I would install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question. It will let us see if the batteries data connection is working as well as the batteries health.

Well the good news is your issue is not this connector! This is a simple compression connection of two contacts from the logic board and the cable element is part of the logic board so if you damaged the cable then the system wouldn’t have even started off of battery. If it where bad you would need a new logic board.

At this point I think your issue is the batteries monitoring cable and/or its connections. Thats the cable you’ve folded over to the side. I would inspect the cable for damage and make sure you’ve properly latched the cable in each connection side. Review Steps 10, 11 & 12 as well as 13 & 14 for the other side in this guide MacBook Pro 16" 2019 Battery Replacement you’ll note the latches are folded up to release the pressure and folded back down to compress the cable within the connector when you reconnect the connection.

Otherwise the logic boards charging logic needs to be checked out.

Thank you very much Dan!

The cable is soldered to the motherboard so i originally feared i pulled it back too much when i replaced the screen. But hearing this on might not be the issue is nice. I have just checked the monitoring cable and refited it on both sides. Still the MacBook seems to not charge or turn on. Might have to replace the cable then to be sure.

I also used a multimeter to see if i could measure anything on the soldering points but i get nothing. I tried another charger but same result.

@captaintech - I would replace the monitoring cable, I just can't see you killing the compression connection.

@danj Hey Dan. I hope you are well. I recived the cable and installed it but the MacBook is still dead. I bought 2 of them to be sure and i have ofc tried them both. Not really sure what my next move should be. Hope to hear from you!

@captaintech - Sadly as I suspected the logic boards charging logic needs to be checked out. This is beyond a DIY task. You will need access to the schematics and boardview drawings and understand them to test the logic board.

I think you really need to find someone with the deeper skills to fix your logic board.
