Band release button is stuck/jammed

One of the watch band release buttons on my Series 3 is jammed. I've tried using soap/water and rubbing alcohol to help break up what is causing the button to not move but nothing has work.

I've taken it to Apple and multiple independent repair shops and all have given me estimates over the cost of a new Series 3 to fix it.

Has anyone who has had this issue been able to fix it? I'm at the point where I may try and take it apart myself to see if i can fix it from inside the case.
