ABS Module compatibility question (2008 Mercury Sable)
My grandfathers 2008 Mercury Sable was recently involved in an accident and the payout to repair the vehicle was more then the cost to repair the vehicles body. For a few months now the car has spat out an ABS fault which was determined to be caused by the ABS Module and he wants to take the leftover insurance money to get that taken care of, however his mechanic told us to source the part ourselves. The specific part in his vehicle is 8G1Z-2C229-E and I've found a part claiming to be compatible with part number 9C24-23C46-AE. Before purchasing the part I want to double check that it is a compatible part and ask if I could replace it myself without much hassle as I don't trust the mechanic my grandfather uses.
Bu iyi bir soru mu?
1-Are you sure the error code(s) points to the abs module? The abs module sits next to the brake master cylinder and physically shielded from crash damage unless it was damaged in the crash?
2-Any crash requiring hard braking usually activates abs taking over braking to prevent any wheel from locking up. Did damage occur to one or more brakes resulting in brake fluid leaking? Once brake fluid leaks during abs braking, repairs become difficult for the diyer unable to bleed abs units without dealer scantools. All hydraulic brakes are serviced separate from abs as if abs were never installed except when brake fluid leakage occurs during abs braking.
3-Replacing the abs unit may require Ford's scantool to activate valves in order to bleed the abs unit. This would be a separate process from bleeding the brake system. Brake repair shops might have scantools to activate abs brake bleeding.
