Makes weird rattling noise when vibrating after repair

I just replaced the battery and charging flex on my iPhone SE 2020. Now it makes a weird rattling sound when the vibrator is activated, as if something is loose in the phone. I opened it up and made sure to tighten all easily accessible screws, especially around the taptic engine but didn't help. I turned off vibrations for now but would like to fix it.

To my questions:

  1. Would it be safe to keep the phone powered on to activate the vibrator and try to locate the issue while removing screws and components around the taptic engine or would I risk to damage things?
  2. Is it feasible that the taptic engine self is broken. If I am to replace it, would an iPhone 8 part be compatible?
  3. I've read that it could be the charging flex that could make this issue occur, but I have a difficulty understanding how that could be. Would that be possible?

Thankful for any suggestions :)

Typically with electronic repair, it's bad practice to power on the device when repairing. The cool thing about the Taptic Engine is that the one from the iPhone 8 should be compatible with the iPhone SE as they should be the same. I'd also use the guide from iFixit just to make sure that your bases are covered. You'll be looking at steps 18 through 23. Also, make sure that your battery itself is secure, as a bad adhesive job could be causing the issue.

Thank you! I'll try to replace the taptic engine. I think I did a decent job with the battery and it is well secured. Could it be that the battery and taptic engine are too close and touching?

@cupcakeninja That could be the case. There isn't a whole lot of wiggle room, so it could be that the Taptic Engine is rubbing up against something.

Moved the battery up a few mm so it wasn't touching the taptic engine, didn't solve it. I definitely think it's something loose. I hear the sound when tapping on the phone. Will investigate further…

@cupcakeninja Definitely take pictures. It can help us identify a potential cause. Adding images to an existing question

Thanks! I also should mention that I lost one of the screws to the upper display cable bracket, but this was before the issues emerged.
