Hi,

With the charger connected to the laptop, check if there is 19V DC on the DC-In jack (supplier example only) where it plugs into the motherboard.

Either that or use an Ohmmeter to prove continuity between the jack's input +ve and -ve connections and the red and black wire output connections on the plug

Well .. I tried original question to keep short, yes sir , I did actually do that, but that is as far as I got . I did no other testing besides just that . Checked 19v after charge jack , on/in wires just past charge jack. Positive, contact iffy power ribbon to M.B. connector which/where I think may be faulty/no proper connetact ? I guess I could check voltage after lead/wires from charge jack to M.B. .. I am novice , and I do appreciate your reply .

@Gary G

You can disconnect the DC-In cable plug from the motherboard and test directly on the plug.

What can happen is that the centre +ve connector of the jack, breaks internally and this opens the power circuit between the charger and the motherboard.

Disconnect the charger and then unplug the jack cable plug from the motherboard and then reconnect the charger and place the voltmeter between the red and black wire connections on the cable plug and then gently flex/move the charger cable/plug where it plugs into the jack and see if the voltage comes and goes at the jack cable plug end.

If it stays steady the jack is OK, if it is intermittent the jack is faulty and needs to be replaced as it cannot be repaired.
