Sizzling sound from MacBook after replacing the battery

After replacing the battery in my 13" Early-2015 MacBook Pro, I plugged in my laptop and was greeted with an unsettling sizzling noise. It was similar to a sizzle you'd hear when an electronic devices shorts out. I immediately unplugged the MacBook and removed the bottom cover and didn't notice anything smoking and didn't smell anything burning. The only thing I could think of was that I had accidentally dropped a few of the acetone based adhesive remover on a ribbon cable. However, I had dried it out asap and waited a while before plugging it in.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am typing this on the same MacBook and everything seems to be functioning, keyboard, trackpad, battery, wifi, bluetooth, etc. Should I be worried?

What cable did you drop the acetone on?

tarafından

@beanman56 It was a ribbon cable that was soldered to a board below the trackpad cover. I immediate tried to use compressed air to see if I could accelerate the evaporation of the acetone-based adhesive remover. I couldn't observe any visible damage though, was just speculation based off of what I was aware that I did wrong.

May you post an image of the cable?

Hi

Have you checked to see if any debris made its way into a fan?

I have seen things like this make wierd noises When things get stuck in the fans

Here’s a guide for removing the fans

If that’s not the issue it might be worth looking over you logicboard to make sure nothing is shorting out

Here’s the guide for that

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

I did blow out the fan with some compressed air to make sure that wasn't the issue. However, I have not replaced the logic board to see if anything has shorted. Now I'm not too experienced with working on electronics on this scale besides building a couple computers and tinkering with electronics as a kid. Wouldn't a short on the logic board be made apparent through computer performance?

@Sean Luna

It could but if there was a short the device probably wouldn’t turn on at all

There is a slight chance that something might have failed but might not be shorted and could just be heating up a lot hence the noise
