Does backcover contain a warranty seal?

I want to open and clean my laptop but I'm concerned about the warranty seal on the back cover, so my question is does it have one?

Hi @onyo681,

Check what the warranty provisions are for your model. That way you'll know for sure.

The serial number should be shown on the product info label on the bottom of the laptop.

If it's still covered by the warranty, unless you've been using the laptop in hot and dusty conditions, as warranties aren't usually for more than 12 months anyway, it shouldn't need cleaning. It's too new.

When I bought the laptop, I also bought the extended warranty, and I did use the laptop for more than 12 months. The main reason I want to clean it is because on the bottom of the laptop, on the vent grill, is visible dust, and the laptop itself does get somewhat hot during basic tasks (could be just 8Gb of RAM and Microsoft Defender).

You could always use a vacuum cleaner first to clean the vent and then check how hot it gets. Do this with the laptop switched off.

Depending on your use, 8GB doesn't seem enough for a gaming laptop though.

Here's the hardware maintenance manual, taken from this support webpage for the model, that will help.

Be careful when working inside a laptop.

Unplug the battery from the motherboard to prevent anything untoward happening if you accidentally touch anything you shouldn't when using tools etc. Reconnect it last thing before closing up.

There's always power on the motherboard somewhere even when the laptop is switched off. The power button is not a power isolating button. It merely signals the intentions of the user. Think of the laptop as being in an extremely low power state when turned off and not that it is totally disconnected from any power.

Also wear a wrist strap connected to an earth point to prevent any ESD damage from occurring to the sensitive components if you happen to touch them

Looking at the battery replacement guide the sticker is inside.

If I'm not mistaken, the sticker is for the battery, not the back cover itself.
