Hey Mike,

Your Chromebook does this to keep your Google Account safe, and prevents others from accessing or changing your account. Although if you still wish to keep this from happening then you can go into Settings then Screen lock and Sign-in. From there just turn off "Show lock screen when waking from sleep".

Again, I recommend that you don't disable this feature as it is a security feature, but this is the process you would want to use if you still want to do this.

+1 to that. I have also seen it is possible to add a PIN on that same menu as a sign in method on some Chromebooks so you don’t have to type the entire password in every time.

I don’t believe you can keep it from asking you if you restart, or power off your device, only when it is waking from sleep, but I don’t suspect most people power down their Chromebooks often anyway.
