Carpet Brush Bar not turning

Hello - My Hoover's brush bar is not turning. I've cleaned the brush bar, bearings, inspected the belt, and just replaced the motor. Doesn't seem like it's getting power despite testing the switch multiple times. Seems like a huge waste as the regular vacuum is working fine but it's useless to me without the carpet functionality. Is there anything more I can do? It's off warranty and Hoover support is useless.

While not completely familiar with upright vacuum cleaners, I'm wondering if there's an inline thermal fuse to the brush motor that's blown. Thermal fuses may be crimped then covered with shrink tubing or exposed for visual view. Presuming motors are 120vac, there are several ways to diagnose/troubleshoot this. Inline thermal fuses are like regular fuse but open when the heating from higher current exceeds its thermal rating, usually rated in nnnC, like 150C. As current rises, wires will warm up but a motor with a load from debris preventing a normal run will draw more current, heating up power wires. A thermal fuse will open to prevent electrical damage, fire hazard and potential electrocution if wiring melts insulation and touches metal panels or melts plastics that may result in a fire. If you have a multimeter, you can measure continuity between the power switch to the brush motor and wiring return (two wires).

Thank you ! I will try and isolate it.

Does the vacuum portion work, in other words does the motor start? You seem to indicate that's the case. From everything I can see in parts lists for that model, the blower motor also drives the belt. Are you very sure of your model number? Another issue with this kind of drive is that the belt wears and become looser over time. You said you replaced the motor; did you replace the belt? Have you tried running the vacuum upside down to see if the brushroll will spin then?

Here is a link to our troubleshooting page with a whole bunch of things to check. I'd especially look at the belt. It may look fine but not have enough tension to actually spin the brush roll. they do stretch over time and on many vacuums the belt is it's own tensioner. I have commented above with some things to check, but the page I linked is more thorough.
