Gopro 7 silver screen is on but black. No display

Has the camera been dropped at all just before the problem started?

Try taking some pictures and then remove the micro SD card from the camera and insert it into a card reader connected to a computer and check if there are any clear images of the pictures you've just taken or if there are images that are black or if there are no images at all

I realize that you cannot see what pictures you're taking but this is to check whether it is just a screen problem and the rest of the camera is OK or if it is a motherboard problem.

If there a black images or no images at all, then most likely it is a motherboard problem

If there are clear images. then it may be a faulty LCD cable connection, a faulty LCD screen or worst case a motherboard problem affecting the LCD screen.

As another test, with the camera turned on, try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see any images on the screen, either pictures viewed through the lens or perhaps on screen menu items. They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help.

If you can see images then there's a backlight problem with the screen. Either a loose screen cable connection, a faulty screen or a motherboard backlight power problem.

If you can't see any images it is either a loose screen cable connection or a faulty screen
