Why is my MacBook Pro shutting down after the white screen?

I have a macbook pro from around 2009 - 2012 that when I plug it in, the charger gets a green light. It will not turn on when i press or hold the power button, but when I take the charger out and hold it for 3 seconds and then plug in it and hold the power button for 5 seconds the fans will start up, the screen will turn white, and the chime will play. However after a bit the screen will turn off but the fans will stay on until I unplug it. However if I shutdown the macbook after doing all of this and pressing the power button and holding command and r the laptop will go into the disk drive diagnostic thing place but will shut off after loading after I select my wifi but the fan will stay on. I'm sorry if this is confusing which i'm sure it is. I'll at this point be extremely grateful for any advice from anybody. Thank you!

Disconnect the battery, press and hold he powered button foe 15sec to fully discharge the logic board, the with the batter still disconnected plug-in the MagSafe charger. Being careful not to shift it did it stay running?

So what I did is disconnect the battery and held the power button for 15 seconds. I then plugged it in and tried to go to diagnostics mode, and it was working but then it once again shut down with the fan still running. I most definitely think that this Macbook has a battery and maybe even a bad hard drive which is the reason for all of this but i do very much appreciate the advice. Thank you!

@pulpiosis - The test was to isolate things down as far as we can. Sadly the logic board needs repairs as well.

As it is trying to work you have a good chance getting it working. But do you have the skills and tools to dig into this or maybe it’s time to find someone with the needed deeper skills.

Yeah I have the tools and I will look into this when I have the time. Do you think it was something big like hard drive or something small like a fuse or something

@pulpiosis - you will need to snag a set of schematics and board view drawings to review the logic board electrical pathways to find the failing SMD device it could also be a bit of corrosion or a cold solder joint so as soon as you startup the joint heats up breaking the connection. This is firmly a logic board issue not anything else.

The other direction, other than fixing the logic board it to just replace it.
