Sony Bravia XBR-65X900E shut down and blink 7 times while playing PS5

Model : Sony Bravia XBR-65X900E

Hello everyone,

After playing PS5 for about 30-45 mins my TV turn off and blink red 7 times. If i re-open the TV the problem reappear aprox every 5 minutes.

I have tried unplug all others devices and manufactory reset the TV.

All my tests are with only one device plug in (PS5), no sound bar.

We have two PS5 at home so I tried my wife PS5 and HDMI cable, the problem occur with both PS5. Also tried different HDMI input.

My TV is now plug directly in the wall.

I removed the back shield and it's not hot at all.

Is there any way to by-pass the 7 blink "TEMP ERROR"?

I have seen some topics about the HLR board and a possible way to by-pass the "TEMP ERROR" but it don’t seems to be valid for the XBR-65X900E?

Why I can start youtube and let it play all day long without any problem?

Thank you for your help, really appreciate.

@oldturkey03 thanks for your help.

On my TV, the HDMI 4 port don’t seems to allow HDR. So, this morning I tried to play PS5 by HDMI 4, the PS5 now output signal :

3840 x 2160 - 60 Hz

Color format: YUV420

HDCP : 2.3

No problem at all after playing several hours :)

I’m so happy !!

But why HDR is making my TV crash?

I had done all OS updates and severals factory reset in the pasts weeks to try to solve the problem.

To my eyes, everything seems allright on the main board :

@francispaquet it could be a bad sensor or maybe it does get too hot. These are tough issues since they come and go. Intermittent issues are always hard to troubleshoot.

@francispaquet that is because it take more energy to generate the gih res high refresh rate images from a video game than just watching a video. I suggest you take your back cover off and take a look at the boards etc. Evaluate for dust/debris etc. Visually check the boards for any "odd" looking components. Let us know how old your TV is, what you already checked and take some good pictures of all of your boards. Post those with your Question so we can see what you see. I am not aware of any official solutions, other than replace the B-Board. However there may be a few things we can try. Let us know if your software is up-to-date and if you have already tried a factory reset
