I bought a nintendo switch to fix, and fixed it. It works in docked mode (turns out it is a kiosk switch from a store), but the screen doesn't work. Do I need to replace the screen on the switch to get it to work in handheld?

Since nobody answered, I eventually discovered on my own that the LCD works fine, but the backlight isn't working. I can either replace the whole screen, or check to make sure the backlight ribbon is in properly.
