New screen replacement not working

Replaced my screen with digitizer from IFIXIT website. SKU: IF327-011-3

I have installed the new screen but not getting an image or light on the display. When I install the old shattered screen it works perfectly fine.

I assumed it was a bad connector as they don’t click nicely as the original, so I swapped the back plate so I can use the old connectors with the new screen. Still no image.

I switched everything back to the original shattered screen and it works. Is this a screen defect? What should I do?

Hi, normally you are expected to test screen operation before installing, so if there’s an issue you can get replacement.

But because you swapped the back plate over you might have replacement denied, however it costs you nothing to ask.

Otherwise you’ll just have to buy another and test before installing.

iFixit has a lifetime warranty on their screens, and to my knowledge there's no restrictions on having installed the screen or not, so you'll definitely want to get in touch with their support people to see about getting a replacement. Best way I've found was to email them at support@ifixit.com.

Sorry to hear that happened to you; iFixit is well known for carrying quality parts but no matter how careful you are, there's always going to be that 1 in 10,000 that was born bad. I've always had great service from them so hopefully things will go as well for you.
