2010 iMac LCD temp sensor cable

I have a couple of questions…

1. Will an LCD temp sensor cable from a 27” iMac work in a 21.5” iMac?

2. How would I remove the old one from the back of the LCD panel  and how would I go about replacing it?

3. The reason I asked the 1st question is because I am having difficulty finding one that will fit a 2010 21.5” iMac.

LCD temp sensor cables for the 2010 27” iMac are far easier to find. Any help and or suggestions in locating a cable the 3010 21.5” iMac, if the answer to my 1st question is “NO”.

Any help in finding a cable that will work would be greatly appreciated! 😎

Thanks in advance

Joe

Update (09/30/24)

This is how the cable got “damaged’ and a picture of it.

One of the wires on the cable came loose when I was trying to disconnect it from the board and needs to be  soldered back on. I am thinking it would be an easier ti replace the cable with a “new” (undamaged) cable

u I think it would be “easier” to remove the 4 cablesthat I had to disconnect in order to remove the LCD from the back of it then install them into the boats 1st then the back of the LCD.

I am not sure how the LCD temp sensor cable attaches to board. I was having a difficult time trying to get the cable reinstalled into the board. That is why I was considering doing it this way

The reason I removed the LCD panel was because I want to replace the hard drive with an SSD.

I do not have a good way to magnify it and need better lighting in order to reinstall this cable.

Update (10/01/24)

Can you post a picture or two of the cable from your system so we are sure which cable. Can you also tell us how it failed.

Sorry to say the sensor is not available as a part on its own any longer, the best you can do is get a junker display and salvage it from it. Here’s a fairly cheap display iMac 21.5" LCD Panel, LED-Backlit (10) : Grade-C from TheBookYard in the UK. If you contact them directly maybe they can send you the sensor cable on its own.

Update (10/01/24)

If you look at the image on the display it’s just glued to the back side. Double stick Tesa page is all I would use.
