@lesliebrow19476 try a BIOS update and see if that gets your BIOS to see the drive again.

@oldturkey03 How is that done via my backup ?

hello again' looking at a bios update the way it's done is when the Pc boots up , update is via Toshiba service site thats not possible the other method is by memory stick thats not possible , i am considering replacing the bios chip with a virgin chip since a bios chip is an Eprom it cannot be erased only with programming software which i dont have

@lesliebrow19476

If it goes to BIOS can you alter the boot menu to show USB 1st boot option and then insert a bootable USB recovery drive, save and restart and check if it finds the HDD?

Hi @lesliebrow19476

For what it's worth, here's a composite image from the motherboard schematic showing the sata HDD connections to the chipset and the power supplies.

Hopefully it may be of some help.

Thanks very much' do you see the 12v pinout on this map on my pinout map those last pins are numbered 1 - 15 that was what i was going on , thanks again much appreciated

@lesliebrow19476

All the v12 (12v?) connections aren't connected. Seems like a standard 24 pin connector is used and wired accordingly for a 2.5" sata HDD/sata SSD.

That will be a big help tracing the tracks i'm unsure if it's a multi layer board' again thanks best to walk away & leave it for a few days then look again with fresh eye's learned that lesson long ago' .....

@lesliebrow19476 there should not be a 12V rail. The 2.5" laptop HDD typically uses only 5V. Double check with another drive since this issue is either your drive, or a bad master boot sector. You are not telling us if the drive is being seen in the BIOS.

We will need to know the exact model of the motherboard. It should be printed right on it. The laptop make and model will not give us the results we need to work on a schematic.
