Rapid ghosting keys after cartridge reader repair

I recently performed a replacement on my son’s Nintendo Switch Cartridge Reader. Upon completing the replacement and buttoning the machine back up I noticed that when I powered it on, it was rapidly ghosting different touches via the digitizer.

I am assuming that this is just a faulty board, but has anybody else experienced this phenomena? I’m 99.9% sure it was just a faulty board as I put the old one back and it worked just fine.

Hi!

When you put the old one back in, and it works, it’s most likely a broken replacement part.

Get yourself a refund or ask for a new one to fix it! It’s the best thing to do for now.

Thanks @koppie007!

Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t something like, you need to install firmware updates or calibrate the digitizer or something. Will work on the RMA

My pleasure! Nope, it should work directly. Please let us know if the new replacement part fixed it or not! Thanks!

The touchscreen is connected to the switch via a ZIF connecter on the cartridge reader board, and as it seems, it would be unresponsive on certain areas or register ghost touch even if you just simply disconnect and reconnect the touchscreen flex cable. I had that problem as well, when I was swapping the outer casing of the Switch with a transparent one. (Really cool, by the way) Anyway, seems that the cartridge reader board that you bought does have a defective ZIF connector, as you said that the touchscreen works fine when you put the old one back. It might be too late to say this, but maybe you can get a refund or something? If you can't, then I suggest you to check the ZIF connector on the cartridge reader board and clean it with isopropyl alcohol. You might also want to check the press connector that connects the cartridge board to the motherboard, as it transfers the touchscreen input to the motherboard. Or, you can simply use the switch with the touchscreen flex disconnected, since basically everything works with joystick input.
