Replace the LCD case - Is it worth the risk?
I had a bit of a lucky day, I recently bought a VERY VERY cheap and nice 2017 MBA i7 model, issue was 'no power', they said they took it to a repair guy and it needed a new I/O board.... So I replaced it and it started up absolutely fine. I checked the system info (pictured below SURPRISE) and checked the OLD battery with our 'trusted' coconut and it was at 1734 Service and DEAD 0 capacity.... New battery is now installed and it booted up nicely. So there are NO ISSUES with the unit whatsoever. YIPPEE! (Turns out the I/O board was OK as I tested it on another unit & just the battery was shot HAHA)
ANYWAY The Display case has some BIG ENGRAVING on it (Previous owners name and address etc).
I have seen some YT videos on how to do it but I do not think I can remove it without leaving some kind of evidence (Won't look nice).... Obviously a clear color case will not hide the engraving or the evidence of the engraving having been removed. Nobody is going to buy this the way it is and I don't have another complete display to replace it with. Do I attempt to replace ONLY the casing by removing the LCD (90% chance it will break as they always seem to do as I am familiar with the process & the care needed regarding the back sheets etc etc)....OR, does anyone have some other solutions? It would help if I can find THE EXACT silver color Apple uses then I could simply paint it again if I find a way to remove this engraving, stickers are not an option unless I 'wrap it (Which maybe a good idea thinking about it) or what do you suggest @danj as I know he will love to answer this one ;)
