In June 2017 Apple updated its 13" MacBook Air with a newer Broadwell Intel Core i5 processor, resulting in slightly increased performance and battery life.

What adapter does my SSD need?

Hello,

My MacBook Air 2017 (model A1466) broke a while ago (white screen with lines). I've since tried everything from connecting to my new Mac to using a monitor to get my data from it (old photos etc) as I never backed it up with the cloud or anything..I've learnt my lesson! I have insurance but they said they would have to wipe the data which is what I'm trying to avoid.

My last option now, which I've started, is removing the SSD card/hard drive and connecting it to a USB. However, I'm not tech savvy and I think I've ordered the wrong type

Can anyone please let me know what one I need. I've found this https://www.amazon.co.uk/FIDECO-Enclosur...

Thank you :)

The Apple blade SSD’s are custom to them, it would have been nice for Apple to support standards like the M.2 interface which they didn’t😫

As it turns out there are a few suppliers of the needed case to hold your SSD. Here’s one from OWC Envoy Pro 1A

Alternatively if anyone you know has a 2013-2017 Macbook Air or a 2014-2015 Pro you could put your SSD into one of those models and be able to recover the files that way by copying them to an External storage, or try using an external display with the broken Macbook Air (you'll need an adapter for the mini-port to HDMI) and access the files and copy them to another external storage drive or USB. Easiest would be as Dan mentioned above to get the OWC setup.adaptor.
