Here's a moderate level, but fairly quick repair to replace the rear screen on the Nikon D850.

Remove any memory cards, batteries, grip, and lens from the camera body. Install a body cap to prevent dust from entering the camera body. Prepare an ESD safe workspace to prevent damage to electronics.
-
-
-
Flip the screen up, so the display is facing the viewfinder. Remove the 2 J00 screws at the top of the display
-
-
-
Flip the screen down towards the base of the camera and remove the bottom 2 J00 display screws.
-
-
-
-
Move the display back parallel with the camera back, but away as far as possible. Support the back of the display so it doesn't fall apart before you're ready.
-
Slightly separate the display assembly from the frame by pulling straight back. Do not force movement if tension is felt from the cable.
-
Once you have around 1cm of clearance between the display and frame, use 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a thin, nonconductive pry tool to loosen the adhesive and separate the cable marked in blue from the back bottom side of the display. Use care to not bend the cable marked in blue any more than necessary, as it will fail if flexed too much.
-
I found the area where the camera body cable attaches to the blue outlined area the easiest to get the solvent in and begin detaching the cable.
-
-
-
Once the cable is unglued from the back of the display module, the display can flip up towards the viewfinder and laid down face down on the back of the camera. Again, use care moving the display to avoid cable damage
-
Support the back of the ZIF connector (in blue), to avoid flexing the cable and flip the latch opposite the display cable side up to allow the cable to release. Once the latch is released, the cable should pull out of the connector with almost no effort.
-
I've left the cables connected in this photo to aid reassembly order. There is a plastic midframe attached to the display assembly with the cables passing through it. Once the display cable is removed, pull the midframe out of the display assembly. It was secured with the 4 screws we removed previously, so it should just fall out.

The adhesive holding the display is not very strong, but squirting a little isopropyl in the gap around the edges can help release it. With your fingers on the back of the frame, press the display in with your thumbs.
-
Starting from the corners and working around the edges until it falls out seems to be the best method I've found. Avoid flexing the frame too much, as it can crack if you aren't careful.
-
Once the display is separated from the frame, use isopropyl alcohol to clean any remaining adhesive residue from inside the frame.
-

-
My replacement display had some adhesive residue on it. Use isopropyl alcohol and a plastic pick/pry tool to remove any residue on the new display.
-
The area marked in yellow is where the new adhesive is applied. Clean it well with isopropyl and avoid touching it while new adhesive is installed.
-
Using tweezers to help placement, install 4 strips of double sided tape around the inset border of the display. I used Tesa 61395 1mm double sided tape, but similar tapes can be used.
-
Using tweezers again, peel off the protective backing of the tape to expose the adhesive.
-
Align and firmly press the display to the frame to adhere them together. If your display has a peel "assist" tab for the protective film on the display like mine does, either remove the peel or use tweezers to guide it through the frame so it doesn't get caught.
-
Reinstall the midframe on the display assembly before reconnecting the display.
-
-
-
With the cable from the display coming from the top, and the midframe installed, route the cable as shown. Make sure the release lever on the connector is flipped up and insert the display cable. It should go in and seat with little effort.
-
While making sure the display cable remains seated fully in the connector, support the back of the display cable and press the connector latch down to secure the cable.
-
When reinstalling the display to its mount, make sure the little "nubbins" on the flex from the camera are slid to where the rubber passthrough is, where the cable exits the display mount.
-
Reinstall the display to the mount. Make sure the cables fold appropriately into position and nothing is pinched.
-
-
-
While supporting the mount frame behind the display, flip the display either all the way up or down to reinstall the 4 screws removed previously. Once installed, make sure the display has full range of motion and the cable isn't getting tugged anywhere in that movement.
-
Install any removed components (battery/memory cards) and verify the display and touch operation.
