Put the end of the string through the hole in the tuning peg, and tightly wrap the string around the peg three times.

If it is wrapped more than three times, it may interfere with tuning, and less than three times could make it less secure.

Next, turn the tuning peg until there is tension in the string. This process can be sped up by using a string winder. Then snip off the excess string with a scissors.
