Overheating Problems
The device overheats when in regular use.
Blocked Air Vents
Dust and debris accumulation in the vents and fans are common culprits behind overheating issues in Lenovo laptops. By cleaning the vents and fans regularly, this can improve airflow and prevent overheating. Start by shutting down your laptop, and disconnecting it from any power source. Use a can of compressed air to blow away the dust and debris from the vents. Pay extra attention to the fan area, as it tends to accumulate more dust. You can also use a soft brush or toothbrush to gently remove any stubborn dirt.
Clogged-Up Fan
Turn off your laptop and unplug it. Open the laptop case to access the internal components. Locate the fan, and carefully remove any dust or debris using compressed air or a soft brush. Clean the vents and surrounding areas. Reassemble the laptop and power it on. If the fan is no longer operational, it may need to be replaced.
Battery Capacity Degradation
You plug your laptop in to charge and nothing happens, or your laptop does charge but fails to hold the charge.
Burnouts
If your laptop’s charging cord has a tear, breaks, and burnout on the wire or cable, then it’s likely the cause of why your laptop is plugged in but not charging successfully. Consider purchasing a new charging cord.
Battery Swelling
Battery swelling is caused by a number of things which include heat and gas build up, overcharging, and improper storage of your laptop. The battery swells when it can no longer carry out the reactions for power generation, which may be why your laptop can no longer hold a charge. If this is the cause, then your battery will need to be replaced.
Uncalibrated Battery
Your laptop's battery management system can falsely report an empty battery when it has plenty of charge. To fix this, you need to recalibrate your battery. To calibrate, charge your laptop to 100%, and keep charging it for at least two more hours. Unplug your laptop and use it normally to drain the battery. You need to keep your laptop on until it goes to sleep due to low battery. After your laptop has died, wait at least five hours and then charge your laptop back to 100%.
No Display / Black Screen
The monitor on your Lenovo V14-IIL doesn’t show anything, and you know the computer is turned on.
Damaged Monitor
To check for a damaged laptop monitor, you can hook your laptop up to an external monitor using an HDMI cord. If the display does not show on the external monitor, then the issue is not the laptop's monitor but something else (Graphics Card or Motherboard). If the external monitor shows the laptop's display, then the display will need to be replaced.
Faulty Graphic Driver Connection
Graphic Drivers act as translators between the software (OS, programs, and apps) and the hardware (graphics card, monitor, etc.). By pressing “Windows” + “Ctrl” + “Shift" + "B”, you can refresh the display connection, and this might resolve the black screen issue.
Laptop Battery Issue
A laptop battery may cause problems with booting and displaying anything on the screen. Even if you can charge it to full capacity, the battery may have a defect causing it to interfere with the laptop start-up process. Please refer to the Battery Capacity Degradation Section of Troubleshooting Guide.
Unresponsive Keyboard Commands
The keyboard keys are unresponsive to user commands.
Keyboard Shortcut Interference
Keyboard shortcuts and user enacted enhancements may lead to malfunction. If the computer has a password, use the On-screen keyboard to access the device. Then, use the device search feature to find and open the control panel. Select Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center\Make the keyboard easier to use, uncheck all boxes, apply changes, and restart the computer.
Out-of-Date Keyboard Drivers
If the computer has a password, use the on-screen keyboard to access the device. Then, use the device search feature to find and open the “device manager,” click “keyboard,” right click on the driver, and select “uninstall." Next, reboot the computer by fully powering it off and then back on.
Incorrect Typing Settings
Typing settings may be altered and affect keyboard functionality. Click “start” and “settings,” select “devices” followed by “typing,” and reset all typing settings back to default.
Unresponsive/Blurry Camera
The camera on your Lenovo V14-IIL may produce blurry images or not turn on.
Dirty Lens
The camera can become obscured by dust and debris. Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently clean the lens. If obstructions persist, try using small blasts of compressed air to clear dust and use electronic cleaning wipes to wipe the lens.
Camera Disabled
The camera can become disabled by accident. Look for an icon of a camera with a line through it. Try pressing this button on its own and in combination with the function key.
Privacy Settings Conflict
Privacy settings may be denying access to the camera. An error stating that the camera is not accessible may signal a privacy settings conflict. To check this setting, click “start” and then “settings.” Open “privacy and security” and select “camera.” Ensure that “camera access” is toggled to “on.”
If the camera still will not turn on, it may need to be replaced.
