Indoor Cam Shows It’s Offline
The indoor Cam shows that it is offline despite being connected.
Cam does not receive power
Ensure the Indoor Cam is powered on and all the connections are secure (Micro-USB plug and outlet). If not, try another outlet as the one you are using might be faulty or connected to a light switch. If the issue persists, try to restart the Cam and run through the setup process again making sure your password is entered correctly.
Poor Wi-Fi reception
Check your device's last reported signal strength in the ring app under Device Health. If your RSSI signal is poor, you may need to move the Indoor Cam closer to your router. You can also consider using a Wi-Fi extender.
Indoor Cam Isn’t Connecting to Wi-Fi
The camera is having issues connecting to the Wi-Fi.
App not Working
Restart the ring app on your device as the issue could be within the app itself.
Cam is not powered on
Make sure the Indoor Cam is plugged into an outlet and powered on. If the Cam is plugged in but not powered on, plug the Cam into a different outlet, the original outlet may be faulty. If Cam is still not receiving power, see the section below.
Poor Wi-Fi reception
Restart the desired Wi-Fi router and run through the router setup process again making sure to enter your wifi password correctly. Next, reconnect the ring Indoor Cam to the Wi-Fi via the ring app.
Indoor Cam Isn’t Working After Being Plugged In
The indoor Cam isn’t turning on despite being plugged in. This can be observed by checking the power light.
Faulty Outlet
There are chances of a faulty outlet due to aging, electrical failure, and wire issues within the outlet. Try using another outlet.
Internal Software Malfunction
The device might have a problem working due to software glitches and bugs. Try rebooting the device using the ring app as guided:
- Open the ring app
- Tap the menu
- Choose the device you want to reboot
- Go to the device health title
- Scroll down to Reboot This Device and confirm.
Faulty micro-USB port
Since the ring Cam is exposed to dust, it can be collected into the port. Check that the micro-USB port is free of dust and if not try removing it using a blower or a dry cloth.
Faulty cable
There are many reasons for a cable not working. Try using another micro USB cable and make sure that the cable is attached properly to the port
Indoor Cam Isn’t Recording Sound
The Ring Cam is plugged in, and no sound is being recorded.
Audio streaming is off
Turn on the audio streaming and recording toggle in your app. If the audio streaming isn’t turned on there is no way for the device to record sound.
Volume is low
Turn the phone’s volume up. Cam may have recorded sound but the phone volume was too low to hear it.
Internal hardware malfunction
Press the reboot button, then test the audio again. By rebooting the ring Cam it should fix any hardware lag and whatever is causing the distorted sound/no sound issue.
If reboot did not fix the issue, unplug your Indoor Cam for twenty seconds, plug it back in, and then test the audio again. This will disconnect the Cam temporarily giving it time to reboot, anything recorded prior to the device being unplugged will still be saved.
Indoor Cam Doesn’t Detect At Night
The indoor Cam does not detect movement or people in low light.
Infra-red Detection
Make sure the Indoor Cam’s infrared light is toggled on. The infrared light control is found under video settings in the ring app.
Window glares and obstruction
If the camera is facing a window, glares may be distorting the Cam’s video detection. Enabling Color Night Vision through the ring app may help improve video clarity.
