Problem With the Home Button

Hello all my first topic, thank you. I replaced my screen and digitizer some days ago, Was quite a traumatising experience, I decided I will not fix iPhones from 5 and below. after mounting everything and everything was almost ok I switched on the phone and everything great I am already jumping of happiness but than the Home button started pressing itself, I tried everything even alcohol drops but nothing. I than Unmounted the whole beast again suffering I managed to get into the home button and the screen I cleaned out everything with alcohol and closed all again, some minutes ago after a while wen I was cleaning after assembly, he made me this trick again and the Home button activated itself, I in desperance restarted and gave a good press and cleaned with my t-shirt the around. This phone is not mine and I dont want to give it back if the Home button Is acting crazy. Before he aswell freaked out and just stopped working. I am a bit in need here any good soul to help me out would be great

yea it stopped working some seconds ago, I am sure it didn't helped to unmount the whole thing, and sometimes it changes mood and the voice control comes up

I would make sure that the home button comes flush with the screen. If it does then I would disassemble it and check the home flex that is underneath the physical button. If you can't fix it by cleaning I would recommend that you replace the home flex first and if that doesn't work then try the charge port maybe.

P.S. Not repairing the iPhone 5 or below? The 5s, 5c and 5 are almost identical and not to be a debby downer but the iPhone 6 isn't going to be any easier to repair. I would recommend lots of patience and practice. Never give up on repairing something no matter how tough it is. This is how you become a better tech!!! :)

For the iPhone 5 and above I was talking for the digitizer and screen, I have a lot of crazy girls around here who somehow love to take a shower and jump with their iPhones around, result... The phone falls and the screen brakes. good moral compared to the 4 4s and bellow you now just need to take 5 screws lift a glass and its than fixed, on the others iPhones instead you need a full bunch of tools patience and cold blood. ;)

Have to agree with you on the repair of the iPhone 6 dosent look repair friendly..

Looks like the hole button will be soldered on them aswel

..Con I have noticed you answer just about everything which makes me curious on your experience with solder? Where I live I know for a fact that we are the only shop that is specialized in solder work which brings excitement for us when it comes to the 6. What does your solder experience look like?

Just got how add comment work xD, Sorry for late comment, So I live in Heidelberg In Germany :), I am basicly passionate with it I solder and fix everything I can find, and I never get demotivated, I as well can fix a bike 100% from A to Z including new paint, and not forgetting computers. my level of solder its something like I am able now to modchip every ps2 model on my own, if you see the level of difficulty, and size, I am talking about. Otherwise I can solder smd package probably felling confident enough around 0402 after that I wouldn't be scared of taking 0201 sizes but I maybe would screw the first boards, I bough all my soldering stations magnifying glasses tools on my own because I really do love this stuff :) want to do a formation in Germany but my papers are not valid here getting a hard time xD cheers

Thanks all form those awnser, I purchased a new flex cable, now that you told me that it could be the dock I am terrified, the button is flushed and good. It's not clicking so we'll, I fell it compared to my 4s

My new button came by today, I really tried to push it hard inside but there was nothing to do, there is like 0,5mm of gold connector out of the port, and the cable is a bit to long somehow... didn't knew if its normal or not I give a try, I had to buy some news screws set, I accidently dropped 1 screw and its now lost into the oblivion of my atelier xD

Yeap I installed the new button, even if it was a bit of the gold pad not going fully in, and it was a bit larger than the original, I decided to try, after I closed everything I turn on the phone, The screen come on its working the touch and screen are happily working, than I press the home button and blam worked just like magic with no trouble, I could notice the old one was so dirty on the sides that it fusioned with dirt and the pressure plate bellow was not returning to natural position properly, now its working good .
