Barbara, first off, placing any electronic device in rice after liquid immersion is an absolutely detriment. Rice does not prevent corrosion and does not remove enough liquid. Using rice is the same as doing absolutely nothing. Take a look at this for a more in depth explanation.

The first thing you want to do , is to not turn the device on. Remove the battery if you can. Then disassemble your device. Use this teardown for an idea of how involved this is. Once you have the device disassembled, use this guide to clean your phone. Yes, it was written for an iPhone, but all the cleaning points are still pertinent to your phone as well. Be diligent when cleaning your phone and you may need to repeat the cleaning a couple of times. After you have it cleaned, replace the battery and reassemble your phone. Liquid damage is the hardest to diagnose and the hardest to repair, since any part may have failed. So even with all these steps, there is still a pretty good chance that you can not get your phone to work. However, there is always hope and you really have nothing to lose with this phone. Hope this helps, good luck.

Put your phone into a Ziploc bag with rice. Squeeze as much of the air out as you can, then seal the bag. Wait 24 hours and try to turn the phone on. Worked for me when I went to the beach. Good luck!

- The rice trick is one of the greatest myth in electronic repair. Please read about about the longevity of any device that has not been properly cleaned.
