Why is my Wifi so slow?

So I recently purchased a Moto G, and I've had nothing but problems using the wifi with it. I have 65mbps down and 10 up, and have no problem with my 4 or so other devices on the internet, yet on my phone, it's constantly reading speeds of under 1mbps. Trying to stream music or videos is almost impossible most of the time, expect when I'm connected to LTE where everything works as expected. What could be the cause of this?

Some apps and services run in the background when you're on Wi-Fi but not when you're on data. There could be something on your phone using a lot of bandwidth when you're connected to Wi-Fi. You can investigate by tapping your network icon in your phone's drop down to go to the "Data usage" screen, then tap the menu on the top-right and tap "Show Wi-Fi". Then switch to the Wi-Fi tab to see which apps are using the most bandwidth on Wi-Fi. If you don't find the culprit here, you can also reboot into safe mode and see if you can isolate the app or service responsible by opening things one by one as described in the troubleshooting guide: Motorola Moto G 3rd Generation Troubleshooting

Hi,

Not sure if your model has these settings but check the WiFi Advanced Settings to see if you can improve your speed by disabling such things as WiFi optimization and Network Notification among others.

Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > WiFi > Advanced

Yes, it’s true. I was cruising on a ship and there was WI-FI on board but almost $40 for 200 MB or 400 MB. So it was a rip off. In the first day 200 MB were “execute” shortly after I purchased them. Inside the ship was small cyber café so the operator told me it’s because my background apps/updates and other things. After he blocked all that not was only relief that my MB were more stable, but the speed improved also. I was with my girlfriend as gift from our parents. We finished both our Cisco courses, different specialities. And now new opportunities awaits us. BTW if somebody is interested this ''https://www.spotoclub.com/'' guys helped us out very nicely. They are competent, professionals and were nice to us. I never thought that if the information will be explained in simple way I will understand more, I think to Becca was the same experience. We want to work in IT and if possible travel around the world! Especially that Elon Musk wants Wi-Fi worldwide!
