Replacement screen Not working.

To start, I repair phones professionally. I have done many, MANY screen replacements.

This time, I've installed the new screen... and there is sounds, but no picture. The screen also is recognizing touches, because I can unlock it and hear the clicking when I select icons I can't see. But the LCD won't light up. Nothing is loose. Nothing is broken. I even tried connecting the screen from my own phone, another 6s Plus. No dice. What the heck could the problem be? I deduce that it must be an issue with the logic board, but after a tear down I can't find anything that looks blown or broken. I'm at my wit's end, and I'm not about to buy this customer a replacement iPhone. Do any of you folks have insight??

It sounds like you blew out the backlight filter on the logic board. The 6s has power to the LCD connector on the logic board even when it is locked or turned off. It will still hold around 4.0 volts. The only safe way to replace the screen and ensure there is no damage is to disconnect the battery then discharge the capacitors by holding the power button for about 10 seconds. To make it worse the pin on the connector that has constant power is right next to ground so if you move the connector just right boom thats it the filter is blown. The only way to repair it is to unsolder the old filter and replace it which will require a microscope and some micro soldering skills. The easiest way to check this is to take a flashlight and shine it on the screen after you unlock it and you will see the screen and all icons. Your welcome, I am glad I could help you out. Just a little advise if you are going to get board work done,, make sure they are reputable and know what they are doing. There are some fly by night shops out there that take a completely repairable phone/tablet and destroy it. I would suggest the shop in the video I linked you to, iPad Rehab. There website information is below the video. Its a mail in service but cheaper than buying a replacement phone. Good luck and remember to disconnect that battery, it has bit many good techs in the last couple of years including myself!

Hi Matthew,

Can you still see the LCD display picture without a backlight, or does nothing display at all onscreen? If you haven't already tried, try unplugging the battery and allow the phone to sit for a few minutes. I've found sometimes when testing iPhone 6S and 6S Plus displays that the phones don't always play nice when unplugging and plugging in screens. Sometimes, the phone will remain on (as flipping the mute switch will cause it to vibrate), but the display won't turn on with any button presses until I unplug the battery and then plug it back in and power it back on.
