UX360ca Touchpad Not Working

I have an Asus Zenbook UX360CA. The trackpad stopeed working, so, of course, I went to update the driver, and got the error that it cannot be installed and to contact tech support. By the way, Driver Easy does not list the driver for it as one that needs updated or is already updated. So, I go to my setting to try to find it there, and, apparently, it doesn’t exist.

That’s a list of all the input devices, which only shows my USB mouse. Any ideas?

Stupid question, but you did try Fn+F9 to enable/disable the trackpad?

If that is no good, if you have Win 10 installed, try installing the latest Asus ATK Package and Smart Gesture drivers for your laptop Win 10 version (32-bit or 64-bit). Ensure that you install the ATK package first before you install the Smart Gesture drivers.

Take heed of the “Notes:” regarding driver installation found near the top of the page.

Here’s a link to the latest Asus Win 10 drivers.

Do not be tempted to update / install any other drivers from this link at this stage. You don’t want to confuse the issue if you run into any problems.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it ;-)

Is Smart Gesture shown as being installed?

Look in Control Panel > Programs and Features.

If it is try uninstalling it, restarting the laptop and then reinstalling it and see what happens.

Hi!

Probably a ribbon cable on the trackpad got unplugged

or go to a pc shop and check it up

Hey Lauryn, may I ask where you found your replacement ribbon? I bought one from eBay that worked out fairly pricey for just a ribbon with shipping (I think over £20) but ended up being too short too...

To all, do we know the correct model of the trackpad itself? There seem to be a heap of options...

If it cannot install the driver then yours probably has the same issue as mine…you need to remove the keyboard in order to dissconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable that connects the touchpad/mouse assebly to the main board. mine was not attatched properly and ended up completely disconnecting. Its pretty easy and takes about 15 minutes.

Guys, do we know the correct model number of the trackpad (and ribbon) here? And also where to source a trackpad and a ribbon?

Seems to be a lot of different trackpads across the Asus range. I’ve got the pad and fixture, but the replacement ribbon I bought seemed too short…

Am I missing a part of fitting it correctly?

Here's a link that may help.

Find your Asus laptop model number in the "search type" drop down boxes and then check the parts available for the model.

Use the "Asus part number" for the component to check if yours is the correct part or not and also if it isn't search online using the part number only to find other suppliers that may suit you better
