How can I get audio back when calling out?

My grandbaby used my iPhone 4G for a teething ring for a few minutes and soaked it pretty good with slob. After that when I call people or they call me the audio does not work unless I turn the speaker on. Do I need to give it a couple of days to dry out or do I need to open it and replace the audio device or what? I'm totally stumped on this, can someone help me fix this?

First of all, teaches you a lesson on not letting babies around bright shiny iPhones doesn't it :P

The part that got "slobbered" just so happens to be above a very crucial part of the logic board, and there is also a nice earpiece hole for you to listen through that is also great for letting stuff like that inside directly onto the earpiece receiver (the part that emits sound for you to hear phone calls). I am assuming you have waited a few days since the time of this post so that obviously hasn't fixed it.

Two things that could have happened.

1. The earpiece receiver has been damaged and required a replacement

2. The actual logic board has been damaged and can't be fixed.

Now for your sake i hope that only the receiver was damaged, and you can find the repair guide here and the part you will need to buy here.

NOTE - If your iPhone is still under warranty then all you need to do is take it to apple and they will replace it for free. ALSO if it is still under warranty and you decide to fix it yourself then you will VOID your warranty.

Hope this helps! :D
