My Frigidaire Washer Dryer Combo FFLG4033QT0 unit was beeping at our cabin this weekend. Couldn’t figure it out. Without any predictable pattern 1 beep or a few beeps. Its manufacture date is 2/16. We haven’t used it more than 20 times.

tarafından

I have the exact same problem with the same combo washer / dryer. Did you determine the cause / correction?

Thanks

tarafından

Mine does the same. Random 3 beeps several times a day every day.

tarafından

Hello! Mine is doing this now. Any updates on what it was?

tarafından

My Frigidaire stackable washer / dryer does the 3 quick beeps, but it also will not unlock the washing machine lid and I have to keep turning the cycle selector and turning the electrical breaker off then back on... and it's anyone's guess when it will unlock.

Sometimes I get so frustrated that I walk away and I hear the washer lid unlock maybe 30 to 60 minutes later all on it's own.

Can anyone tell me why all this is happening? I've already paid an appliance repair man $300.00 dollars, he changed the water inlet valve which I don't think was the problem at all... because it's still doing the same thing I called him out to fix.

By the way the name of the appliance repair company I used was Rogue Appliance Repair outside the New Orleans area... NEVER, NEVER call this company. They will not come back to figure out what is wrong with my washing machine... unless I pay them for another service call. Great repair warranty... right?

Hi,

Does this occur when the washer is in use?

Don’t know the answer but according to the owner manual:

Push in or turn the cycle selector knob or turn any option knob to "wake" the washer. You will hear three short beeps to indicate washer is ready to operate. After making your selections, push in the selector knob to start the cycle. You will hear one short beep and the washer lid will lock.

Perhaps if you hear the beeps when the washer is not in use, the cycle selector switch has to be either pulled out or in the home position. It may be just a reminder that it is ready to go otherwise.

Alternatively it may be if it is truly random and not in a time pattern that then there may be intermittent interruptions to the power supply to the unit.

Depending on your location there is either a single 240V power feed or a 2 x 120V power feed. If it is a 240V power feed you may be able to try connecting to another power outlet which uses a different fuse. If it is a 2 x 120V supply then unfortunately you cannot try this as the power outlet that the washer is connected to is specifically wired for the washer i.e. 2 fuses for the washer in the power box of the premises

Disconnect the washer’s power cord from the wall outlet if it is really annoying and only plug in when wanting to use it. That should stop the beeps. This will also reduce your power bill (not much but over 12 months it can add up. ;-), as a lot of appliances still draw a small amount of power when stopped but not turned off at the outlet i.e. standby power. I think that your unit will use power when not in use given that it can be turned on by “turning any option knob” to “wake” the unit as described in the manual. Option knobs usually aren’t power on/off switches.

I have tried resetting the power by turning off both breakers. The washer & dryer.

It beeps when not in use.

It does so randomly

There is nothing in the online manual or in the Electrolux/Frigidaire site that states what it is for or why it would do this.

Just annoying really

tarafından

@Stewart Fleming

The manual does state that if the washer is off, that it will beep three times when the you select a wash cycle OR operate an option switch, before you press the cycle switch in to start the wash.

That's why I suggested maybe it's a power flick from the mains power supply that is the problem as the combo unit is in a standby state rather than turned off i.e. the power is on then off momentarily then on again, so the washer thinks that it's being turned on - power is reconnected - but won't start because the cycle switch is not pushed in.

Try just turning off the one breaker to the dryer and then if it still happens restore the dryer breaker and turn off the breaker to the washer if it still occurs and see (or rather listen). By rights it shouldn't occur when the washer is isolated but not the dryer.

Remove the panel below the dryer ,above the washer held in by 2 screws , tip panel out and lift up , tech sheet is attached to the backside of panel.

There are two different three-beep signals. Neither is mentioned in the accompanying “Use & Care” manual, but the usual three-beep signal is mentioned on the accompanying “Laundry Center Operating Instructions” separate sheet of paper as indicating that the washer or dryer has been powered-up from a “sleeping”, or low-power state. That three-beep signal is three shorter/quicker beeps. The other three-beep signal consists of three longer beeps, and indicates a problem. In my case, the problem is that I can eventually get the machine to wash and rinse (after a long period of the pump chug-chug-chugging followed by a silent delay and another round of pumping), but the drum will not spin at the end of the wash or rinse cycles, so the clothes are left very wet, and not fully rinsed.

Hi

What is the model number of the washer?

Knowing this may help to find the tech sheet which shows how the diagnostics can be run to see if they show the reason for it not spinning.

tarafından

Hi Frank

Have you found the issue off a three (3) long beep. The washer is not finishing its cycle and stay loaded with water. After a couple cycle stop/start, The unit finish its cycle but not often.

tarafından

@alexandred58024

If you have a FFLE3911QW0 then try running the diagnostic tests and check what error codes are being displayed.

tarafından

Hi frank I have the same problem, are fix this problem already? If so please can you share how you fixed please?

Thanks

The solution is replacing the washer/dryer cycle selector. When one of them starts going bad it will make a beeping noise without user input. Usually you can figure out which one is going bad because certain cycles will work normally and others won’t finish and can stop at different stages during the cycle. The other easy method I found to figure out which one is the culprit is to listen to the beep that the washer/dryer is making and then physically turn the knob your self without starting a cycle and see if the sound matches. The washer and dryer both make slightly different beeps when a cycle is being selected.

Jesus! Thank you! You just saved me 3k from buying a new wash tower. Swapped out the dryer selector for the washer one, clothes aren’t wet anymore at the end of the cycle.

Send me a message or an email where i can send you some thing for a case of beer.$

I have not fixed my washer dryer combo as the problem with the random 3 beeps seems to come and go just as yours used to do. For months it was silent but now it's acting up again.

What I have figured out is this: my machine's has a designed-in 3 beep pattern that occurs whenever I initially rotate one of the cycle selection dials when the machine has been sitting for a while. According to my manual, these 3 beeps are to let me know that the machine has been awakened and is ready to accept my selection/command. I've also noticed that there are a couple of different pitches to these beep patterns. For example, when I rotate either the washer or dryer cycle selection nobs, it'll sound the "I'm awake" 3 beeps and the pitch for either of these is identical. But if I awaken the machine by first turning the nob for to activate the fabric softener - which is a separate on/off switch - then the 3 beeps I hear is of a different pitch, and in my case this is the 3 beeps I hear intermittently. So what I've deduced is that I either have a dirty/bad fabric softener switch OR the main control circuit board to which that connects is going bad. Since I'm pretty handy I was was going to dismantle the control panel and remove the fabric softener switch to see if I could clean the internal contacts as well as the external ones - i.e. at both ends of the wires that run from the switch to the main circuit board. Sometimes terminals or contact points can become oxidized or dirty with lint which will cause the affected sensor or switch to become momentarily disconnected and the reconnected which, logically speaking, would cause the machine to 'think' that it's being awakened and this sound the 3 "I'm awake and ready" beeps. I've yet to try this repair as it's been pretty quiet lately but I intend to do it at some point if/when it gets worse.

Now, with all of the above being said, I do not think your problem is confined to just one bad switch or sensor since your beep patterns is random and differentiates from occurrence to occurrence (ie my beep pattern is consistently the same). If I had to take an educated guess, it sounds to me like your problem is either a) multiple switched that are going bad or need cleaning or b) the main circuit board is going bad. If your handy you can try opening up the main control panel (MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG THE UNIT FIRST AND LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED OVERNIGHT BEFORE WORKING ON IT) and then looking around at the various points at which the various switches connect to the circuit board. If there are wire connectors make sure to disconnect them from the switches and the main circuit board and examine them carefully for any signs of corrosion or oxidation. You want to see clean metal wherever contact is made. A little fine sandpaper and a bit of rubbing alcohol (for use to clean the contacts after using sandpaper to remove the oxidized build up) is all you need to clean up corroded terminals. I've applied this technique to many automotive and hone electronic repairs. It always amazes me how so many problems can be attributed to simply bad/dirty/corroded/oxidized contact points.

This is an update to my comment posted earlier.

What follows is a description of what I have done since posting my previous comment which seems to have, for the most part, fixed my problem.

First let be start by acknowledging and thanking Frank Black (another poster) for correctly identifying that there is more than one type of '3 beep' signal, each with its own varying tone and volume level, and for also pointing out that this fact is not discussed in the owners manual. I believe that this distinction is crucial to diagnosing the source of one's problem and was immensely helpful to me in my diagnostic quest. So again, my thanks to Frank.

With regard to my particular situation, like Frank Black, I also observed that by actuating the various different switches when the unit has not been in use for some time (ie while in standby mode) that my w/d unit has two distinctly different beep tones - one that's louder and higher pitched - which I hear when I actuate either the the washer or dryer cycle selectors - and a softer (or less loud) 3 beeps that is also of a slightly lower pitch and heard when I actuate the fabric softener switch (my model has this particular switch which has "on" or "off" positions).

Through repeated, careful observation and analysis I have determined that the random 3 beeps that I hear is the one that's associated with aforementioned fabric softener switch. Once I made this distinction/determination, I then focused my fix around that particular switch. The following is what I subsequently did that seems to have fixed my problem:

  1. Unplug the electrical plug from the electrical outlet on the wall (or just turn off the circuit breaker - but unplug is preferable).
  2. I then pressed (and continued to hold held that press) the washer cycle selector switch for 30-60 seconds to discharge any stored electrical current that's possibly retained in any capacitors on the main circuit board. I then released the pressure on the switch and removed the control panel from the unit. To do this I first had to remove the slanted metal panel that is directly above the washer and below the control panel. This metal panel, on my model, is simply held in place with two easily accessible Philips head screws. Once these screws are removed I was then able to tilt this metal panel towards myself and lift it upwards, allowing me to then separate it from the frame of the washer dryer. This will also then give you access to the two screws that secure the control panel to the frame of the washer dryer. Once the two screws that secure the control panel to the frame are removed I then simply lifted the control panel upward to separate it from its upper mounting points on the frame.
  3. Once I had the control panel separated from the frame, I then identified/located the fabric softener switch and CAREFULLY disconnected and removed the wire harness (at both ends) that connects the switch to the main circuit board. NOTE: I DID THIS BECAUSE I NOTICED THE CONNECTIONS WERE SOMEWHAT LOOSE AT BOTH ENDS OF THE WIRING HARNESS.
  4. I CAREFULLY CLEANED THE CONTACT POINTS INSIDE EACH CONNECTOR AT BOTH ENDS OF THE HARNESS by spraying a little electrical contact cleaner which is readily available online at or at a local hardware store. In lieu of electrical contact cleaner, one can also use 91% rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle instead - just be sure to let the contact points dry thoroughly before reassembling. If you have it, you can used a can of pressurized air to blow the contacts clean/dry.
  5. I then used a very small flat head screw driver to bend the part of the contacts in each plug that provides the tension for holding the plug tightly to their corresponding points of connection at each end. I took photos of this but unfortunately this site doesn't seem to allow for the upload of pictures to be attached to one's comments. This step was an IMPORTANT one in my case because I suspect thar the aforementioned looseness is what might have been causing an intermittent loss of connectivity, leading to the triggering of the 3 beep "I'm awake" acknowledgement sound. It's also important to note that on my model, the design of the wiring harness and their corresponding points of connection are of a somewhat poor and consequently flimsy design. What ever happened to "design excellence" in America?! But I digress...
  6. Before reattaching the aforementioned harness, I also removed the fabric softener switch itself by carefully separating it from its mounting position on the back side of the control panel. It's important to note that before I could do this I had to first pull off the knob for the switch from the front of the panel. Once I had the switch out, I then used the same small flat head screw driver to CAREFULLY AND GENTLY pry the switch open/apart. Once opened I was able to locate and clean the brass/metal contact points inside the switch using some q-tips swabbed swabbed with 70% or 91% rubbing alcohol. One can also use the electrical contact cleaner I mentioned earlier - if you have it. NOTE: If you see a dark discoloration/build up on the internal contact points, you can also use a CLEAN pencil eraser raser to GENTLY rub away this oxidative build that one sometimes finds at these contact points. And if this method is used or found to be necessary to clean the switch's inner contact points, it's imperative, as a final step, to finish the process by then cleaning those same contact points with a q-tip swabbed in alcohol as I mentioned previously. Again, the use of a CLEAN eraser as a first step is only necessary if there is noticeable dark buildup on the contact points inside the switch.
  7. Once I'd finished all of the above I CAREFULLY reassembled everything and plugged the unit back in.

Since performing this "fix" I have noticed that my machine rarely beeps like it used to. Yes, once in a great while I will still hear it beep but I attribute that to a possible intermittent voltage fluctuation - and again, this occurs now only very rarely - and certainly nowhere near as frequently as it used to.

Conclusion: I can't say, with 100% certainty, that this has fixed my problem nor that it will fix yours - but I can say that it has improved my situation markedly.

Same problem. Mine usually will not run a full normal cycle. It works for a while, then beeps, then stops. Sometimes it says I need to clean the filter (even when it is clean).

The solution I have found is to to switch to a timed dry (30 minutes) and repeat until the clothes are dry.

I’ve never had a problem with a dryer before…but this is my first ventless dryer. Maybe that’s a factor?

Hi

I’m almost positive it’s my dryer that beeps ! How would I know if it was the washer ! Beeps occur when they are both not on and empty all through night . 3 fast beeps . Thanks

tarafından

Mine beeps when the lent filter isn't clean. If I leave clothes in the dryer, then I hear beeps in the middle of the night. My habit has always been to clean lent filter before each use, but I'm trying to remember to clean as soon as dryer finishes. My stackable is not new, but came with our condo. It works great other than the intermittent beeping.

I had this issue until I realized that one of the knobs (the temperature knob that says “high, medium, low”) on my stackable dryer was in between two of the settings. The beep was the dryers way of letting me know! Try checking all of your knobs and make sure they are turned to one setting or another, not in between settings. Hope this helps!

My frigidaire washer was beeping randomly at times and other times didn’t. Sometimes would run spin cycle, sometimes didn’t. Until the day the spin cycle refused to start. I had to change the “Washer Door Lock Latch Switch Assembly”. It’s real easy to do, Just remove boot ring and pull boot out near latch. All you need then is a Phillips #2 screw driver. Remove the 2 screws holding the door latch, unplug it and plug in new one.(3plugs) There’s a video about it on YouTube.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

I also have an fridgeaire Electrolux but it's model CFLE1011MW.

Mine beeps ALL THE TIME!

It's not always three beep pattern. And it's not always consistent.

At times it'll do three beeps, other times that we'll do two beeps. Sometimes it will do one beep. Sometimes it's quiet. It can go hours without making a noise, And then make single beeps and inconsistent spacing but clearly single beeps and not beep patterns. For hours

It beeps, when it's running. It beep when it's not running. It's just beeping all the time.

I keep the breaker off for the washer and dryer, I only turn it on when I'm running the washer.

This happened to me last year. And eventually the problem corrected itself. So I just pretended it was an issue, And decided it was a future me problem.

Well the future is here. Has been doing this for 3 or 4 months now without signs of letting up.

I am pretty sure it really just needs replacement. But if there's a way to fix it, I'd like to.

I can't find anything about this and the manual. Though it is possible that I just missed it, I'm going to look through it again.

See my most recent posting. Problem is most likely caused by any of the following reasons (or combination thereof)"

1. Bad switch

2. Dirty or loose connections between one or more switched and the motherboard to which the switch connects (there are two motherboards, one for washer and one for dryer).

3. Bad motherboard (s).

In my most recent post prior to this one I wrote about what I did to fix my issue. As discussed in that post, IT IS IMPERATIVE, FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSES, THAT YOU DISCERN THE SOURCE IF THE BEEP - IE IS THE BEEP COMING FROM THE WASHER OR DRYER MOTHERBOARD. This will at the very least, help you drill down and focus your repair efforts. It is not hard to figure out: Unplug the unit (or turn breaker off) and then remove control panel (see my previous post for instructions). You want to have the control panel hanging from but still connected to the unit. Once you get to that point, restore power. Then take a cardboard tube leftover from an empty roll of paper towels and out to your ear.

tarafından

Part 2. Use the cardboard tube from the empty paper towels like a stethoscope to help you hone in on the location from which the beep is coming (ie which of the 2 motherboards it's coming from). Once you identify which board, disconnect power again and then check the wires to that MB fur loose or dirty connections. Because to also check the save wires where they connect to the switches. Lastly, if your handy, disassemble the ancillary switches that connect to that MB and check for internal corrosion or dirty. Clean with 91% rubbing alcohol. If the problem persists after doing all that then you'll most likely need to replace the MB in question.

PLEASE DON'T BE AN M.I.A. POSTER...BE SURE TO POST BACK IF/WHEN YOU FIND YOUR SOLUTION - SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE TO BENEFIT OTHERS IS WHAT THIS SITE IS ALL ABOUT!

GOOD LUCK!
