TCL Model: 55S405 no back lighting?

Hi,

I am new to repairing TVs. I can do most everything with computers but TVs are new to me and I want to make sure that I know as much as possible before even opening the TV.

Another renter in my building has a TCL Model: 55S405. It has no lighting when turned on. With a flashlight I can see a TCL logo on the screen when turned on.

I understand that this means the backlighting isn't working.

I just want to get as much advice as possible before I make it worse instead of better.

My search show me that the backlighting is inexpensive at around $33 bucks.

This is good.

So, am I right to assume it is the backlighting or should I know anything else before even opening it up?
