Here's a video that may help.
Its purpose is to show how to replace the digitizer but it is still useful as it shows how to open the device so that there's access to the battery and it can be then removed/replaced.
The battery is seen being disconnected 37 seconds into the video.
Search online using the battery model number (printed on battery) to find suppliers that suit you best.
