Turn off itself occasionally.

Block Image

My plasma TV tcp55st30 occasionally turn off itself. It clicked, screen went black and the power light stayed solid red. I unplug the TV for 5 minutes, plug it in power up and worked until the next black out.

@ahyong intermittent failures are the hardest to diagnose. Here is the way your TV is supposed to work (Turn ON)

IC8000 on the A board outputs the “TV_SUB_ON” command. The “TV_SUB_ON” command is provided to pin 5 of connector P6 of the power supply to develop the F15V. At this time, the relays on the power supply are triggered and a click” sound can be heard.
The F15V from the P board is applied to the Voltage regulators on the A board.
IC5000 outputs the "DCDCEN(ENABLE)" command to the voltage regulators to output several voltages respectively.
I know it's a lot of "blah blah blah" but that is the clicking you here. It sounds like it may be a component on the A-board which is failing (overheating). That would also explain why it works again after 5 minutes.

A-board is the bottom board in your last picture.

Thanks. So I need a new or used A board. When watching certain channels, the pictures / screen become distorted. Is that the cause of overhead or bad A board?

tarafından

@ahyong only on certain channels? Yes it can be but that is even harder to diagnose :-)

For now my prime suspect are the A-Board and the P-board. I'd go with the A-board first. This is not scientific, just a gut feeling. Get a replacement for as inexpensive as you can find. Used is okay because I do not want you to spend your hard earned money on my gut feeling.

Thanks again. I'll get an used A board and will update in the near future. THANKS again I really appreciate your time and input.
