Keyboard quit working suddenly

Hi, my keyboard quit working again but this time I can't get it working. Only the power button works and I have to use a mouse and external keyboard to do anything. (It's just a regular keyboard, not a mac one.) I can't reinstall the system or do the PRAM thing to see if that would help because I can't use the external keyboard to do all those choices with command keys etc. I have looked on forums and contacted Apple, they just said to take it to a shop (which will cost a fortune for sure...) Everything else works fine except the keyboard. (BTW, I have a down cursor key which didn't work before this happened and have been unable to fix it. I don't know why that might have anything to with this problem, but who knows...) Any ideas out there? This forum is probably my last hope!

It’s likely the battery is pressing on the trackpad cable which then messes up the keyboard.

Let’s check the battery, install this gem of an App CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here so we can see it.

You might want to physically inspect the battery if you have the tools you can follow this guide MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Battery Replacement you only need to get the bottom cover off (first three steps). Compare you batteries cells to the images in the guide do they look puffy?

Update (10/14/23)

Well I think you need a new battery as the cycle count exceeds what was expected! Determine battery cycle count for Mac laptops

As you can see your system is rated for 1,000 cycles and your count of 1,368 exceeds that by a large margin! I’m sure your battery is swollen and is pressing on the case and cables.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to just buy a new one. It's such a good little machine in spite of its handicaps.
