Laptop possibly breaking chargers, is it worth fixing?

I have a laptop that has recently (possibly) killed two of my chargers.

The reason i think so, is because a lil while ago, i plugged in a usb rgb led strip into it, that has caused overvolt issues on my desktop's motherboard. At the time I didn't realize the strip was faulty, and basically functioned like a sort of usb killer. After putting it into my laptop, it started randomly crashing every now and then, especially when the camera has been on for a few hours, like during video calls. The laptop works mostly fine, but has now killed two chargers.

I've read somewhere that issues like these can be resolved by replacing the battery.

What i wanna know is; is it worth getting a new battery, or should i stop using my laptop altogether?

tell us how you know the LT killed 2 chargers.

Don't know how the LED strip can kill a USB port. The port will only supply so much current = 500ma if USB2

Does the LT run with a charger alone - no battery?

Does it run on battery alone? how long?

How do you charge the battery?

@ruggb Probably shouldve added that i dont know per se. I just know that that 3 other motherboards have gotten voltage issues after the strip was on them. That can't be a coincidence.

I haven't tried to run the LT with the charger alone. Ill update if that works

What are the "voltage issues"?

tarafından

@ruggb I got notifications warning of surges in the usb hub. Sometimes the pc would boot, and i'd get those notifications in windows. Mostly the pc refused to boot and I got a notification from the bios saying something along the lines of a surge in the usb hub. After that, it would just immediately shut down.

@ijfes what exact model is your laptop? Is it a Acer Aspire 5 A515-43 or a different model? You will have to check the USB circuit to see what got damaged with that particular LED strip. Have you checked the output of the AC adapters to verify that they went up in smoke? What USB HUB?

Do not continue to use this LED strip if there is any suspicion it is not working properly.

This "issues like these can be resolved by replacing the battery" is very unlikely. "is it worth fixing" is a question that we can only answer once determination is made on what needs to be fixed. You should at least try to fix it.

is the PC booting now?

Can you plug another USB device into the "bad" port(s) and see if it works - like a USB thumb drive?

Are all port affected or just 1?

If the PC does not boot, what does it do?

Does the LED strip work if connected to the proper voltage & current power supply?
