@nikbe - How warm is it where you live? Find a cooler place to charge your system to be sure. If it doesn’t change then the battery sensor is defective.

It’s been warmer than usual I’m in south east England. 23c currently.

Ok I’ll try that. Thank you.

So I’ve tried a new charger. Still not charging the new battery.. so I’m guessing it’s not the battery or the charger that is the problem here.

@nikbe - What’s the batts temp now? Did charging in a cooler location change the temp as well as just sitting for a good hour in sleep.

It does look like the charging logic needs repairs. This will require good micro soldering skills and access to the needed parts. It maybe best to find a good Mac repair person who can fix your system.

Filtre ölçütü:

Well your battery is overheating! Presently over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Is the system near sunny window?

So if the system is not being exposed to heat, then the battery may be bad or the charging logic has issues.

This is the brand new battery from ifixit.

No, not near sun. I’ve just turned on the laptop and temperature is saying 27.4c. can it be over heating if it’s been off?

tarafından

@nikbe - There is a thermal sensor within the battery, while you have the system turned off, the battery is still charging, only if you unplug it for a few hours to stabilize the temperature, then plug the system in and quickly take a fresh CoconutBattery snapshot is the temp still above 80 F/28 C? If it is then the battery is defective, still leaving the MagSafe plugged in does the charge rate (Charging with) now charging? It may take a few minutes for SMC to startup. If it’s not, the charging logic within the system needs repair.

Yea it’s been unplugged all night and looking now it’s at 25.4c

I’m going to get a new charger now just to be sure. But sounds like I have other issues like you say. Thank you for the advice
